Houses the House of Commons, House of Lords and the two houses of Parliament and is named after it's tenants as the Houses of Parliament. It is in Middlesex bank of River Thames in Central London in the City of Westminster that derives from it's neighboring Westminster Abbey, that may refer to the Old Palace that was destroyed in a fire in 1834 and the New Palace that stands now. It is built in Perpendicular Gothic style and it's architect was Charles Barry and was helped by Augustus Pugin who was an expert in Gothic architecture. construction started in 1840 and took 30 years to complete and also was reconstructed after the blitz in 1941. It stands on an area of 8 acres of land reclaimed from the Thames and has 1100 rooms and has a 266 metre riverfront and is a rather imposing structure and is in the UN Heritage list since 1987.
