A single exposure of an unbelievable sky and stone beach near Emmett Lake. This is a sunrise from the eastern shores of the Northern Bruce Peninsula at Halfway Log Dump in Ontario. The bugs were atrocious and the hike in was a nightmare but this sky couldn't have been more rewarding. I was awake shooting night skies till 3:00 a.m. and then slept less than two hours in order to drive to this spot from my cottage and catch the sunrise at 6:00 a.m. The journey through the woods was one of my spookiest to date. The hike is only a mile but before the sun rose the forest was thick with darkness and strange noises. Once on the beach, however, the beauty was overwhelming. I was completely alone on these shores. It was the perfect atmosphere to capture the scene, say a prayer of thanks, and sit beside the quiet waters.
